Guides for people who travel by water
Camp Market Flow is an independent, Toronto-based publisher of practical guides to canoe trips and lake camping across Canada.
Why we write about lake country
Canada has more lakes than anywhere else on Earth, and an extraordinary system of national and provincial parks to explore them. Yet a lot of trip information is scattered across forum threads, outdated PDFs and half-remembered advice from the dock. We started Camp Market Flow to bring the essentials together in one calm, clear place.
Our guides are written for the full range of lake campers: families booking their first drive-in weekend, paddlers planning a first portage, and experienced trippers looking for a checklist before the season opens. We focus on the decisions that matter — route choice, safety, food, sleep and respect for the places we visit.
We do not sell trips, gear or reservations, and we do not publish paid rankings. When rules matter, such as permits, fire bans, wildlife regulations or boating safety equipment, we explain the general picture and point you to the official source.

Our editorial principles
Useful first
Every guide should help you make a real decision: where to go, what to pack, when to stay on shore. If a section does not help, it does not belong.
Honest sources
We rely on official park, provincial and federal guidance for rules and safety, and we say so. We never invent statistics, reviews or testimonials.
Leave No Trace
Low-impact camping is woven into every article — from food storage and fire safety to washing dishes well back from the shoreline.
Safety without fear
Cold water, wildlife and weather deserve respect. We explain risks plainly and focus on habits that prevent problems.
Welcoming to all
Lake country belongs to everyone. We write for beginners and families as carefully as for seasoned trippers.
Kept current
Parks update their systems and rules. We review guides regularly and welcome corrections from readers.
Whose lands we paddle
The lakes, rivers and coasts we write about are the traditional territories of many First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, whose relationships with these waters long predate parks and permits. We encourage every reader to learn whose territory they are travelling through, to respect cultural sites and closures, and to support Indigenous-led stewardship and tourism where possible.
